It's been almost a year and a half since the 2nd generation Porsche Cayenne family of SUVs was revealed. And now, unveiled at the Auto China 2008 motor show last week, 2009 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S joins the mighty range.

Porsche obviously sees plenty of potential in the Chinese market. So much so that it staged the world premiere of its most expensive SUV, the 2009 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, here in Beijing.

There are no changes to the standard air spring suspension, but this Cayenne, along with all other 2009 Cayennes with at least 20-inch wheels, will offer Porsche's Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) as an option. The front discs measure 16.1 inches in diameter with six-piston calipers, while the rears rotors are a mere 14.6 inches across and use just four-caliper pistons.

It sounds excessive, but Porsche says the Turbo S will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 280 km/h, so you might need a good set of binders to keep it under control.

The refreshed Turbo S sports a powerful 4.8-liter V8 twin turbo engine capable of producing 550 hp and 750 Nm (557 lb-ft) of torque and delivering 13 mpg city/18 mpg highway fuel efficiency. The engine is strong enough to accelerate the heavy vehicle from zero to 60mph in 4.8 seconds and help it reach the top speed of 280 km/h (174 mph)

The 2009 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S comes equipped with a set of 21-inch SportPlus alloys and ceramic composite brakes, and lava gray metallic paint option. Its corporate grill and wheel arches are painted body color.

The SUV will come to dealerships in August 2008 at a base price of €111,400.
