The Soul Hybrid concept will be one of four world premiers from Kia at the Paris Motor show next week. Powered by Kia's Gamma 1.6-liter petrol engine combined with a 15 kW, 105 Nm AC synchronized electric motor and the company's CVT (continuously variable transmission), the concept promises fuel efficiency of 57.6 mpg and CO2 emissions of 117 g/km.

No new cars for Fiat at Paris, so the spotlight fell on environmental initiatives. A five-times life-size white Fiat 500 presided over a stand occupied entirely by pearl white 500s, Bravos, Sedicis, Cromas and Qubos. These cars were set on a Simpsons sky-like floor of blue and white over which the usual high quality of Fiat ladies strolled. If Fiat did heaven, it could look a lot like this.

TOP 2  -  BMW Says U.S. Credit Woes To Hurt Europe Car Values

BMW AG Chief Executive Norbert Reithofer said the credit crisis in the U.S. will have a spillover effect that will eventually hurt the value of second-hand cars in Europe. Deteriorating residual values in the U.S. forced BMW in August to revise downward its profit targets for 2008. In the second quarter, BMW booked a charge of €459 million related mainly to its leasing business in North America, following a €236 million charge in the first quarter.
