TOP 9  -  Porsche expected to introduce next Cayenne in 2010

Porsche has pulled the second generation of its Cayenne SUV forward by a year to 2010, according to European reports. Porsche reportedly decided to speed up the introduction because the new model is to feature a number of systems to improve fuel economy, including a hybrid-electric model.

TOP 8  -  Nissan's boost in sales follows incentives hike

Nissan Motor Co. in August posted the largest incentive boost of the six biggest vehicle sellers in the United States, according to Autodata Corp. estimates. That analysis helps explain why it was the only one of those companies to post a gain in sales last month.

TOP 7  -  Mercedes-Benz to Process Vehicles at Brunswick Center

The center is to include a full body shop, vehicle registration, detailing and distribution capabilities. The 70,000-square-foot facility is to process about 50,000 cars annually.When it opens in 2009, the facility will be the first stop for Mercedes-Benz vehicles entering the Georgia port after U.S. Customs.  Vehicles processed there will be shipped to dealers throughout the Southeast, as well as Texas and Oklahoma.

TOP 6  -  Mazda developing Volt competitor

Chevrolet's Volt hasn't even been released yet and other automakers are already hard at work developing their Volt killers. Sources at Autocar say that Mazda engineers have developed a working Mazda5-based electric vehicle prototype. The prototype is said to use a rotary engine to charge a battery pack that powers an electric motor driving the wheels.

TOP 5  -  Kia Motors America Announces August Sales

Kia Motors America (KMA) today announced August sales of 25,065 units. Year-to-date sales are up 1.3 percent with 210,705 units sold. Passenger cars are up 4.9 percent for August and 22.2 percent year-to-date.

Leading August passenger car sales is Optima with 3,807 units, up 25.2 percent over the same period last year. Rio and Rondo also both had increases of 19 percent and 15.2 percent respectively over the same period last year with 3,590 and 3,508 units sold.

Vehicle maker Fiat (FIA.MI: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) is in talks with a number of potential partners in China as it seeks to offset sluggish sales in Italy and the rest of Europe, its chief executive said on Thursday."For Italy, 2008 will be a painful year, 2009 will be better ... the rest of Europe won't see a stellar performance in 2008," Sergio Marchionne said on the sidelines of an automotive industry conference in the Indian capital."We are handling the weakness in Europe with strong performance in the BRIC economies," he said, adding the company was sticking to its earlier earnings' forecasts for 2008 and 2009.

Audi of America announced today auto sales for the month of August totaling 6,406, a decrease of 16% from last year's figures. Despite strong economic headwinds, Audi new vehicle sales in the U.S. are down just 3.7% year-to-date. Audi Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) sales continued to grow with another record-setting month; compared with last year's August figures, CPO sales rose to 2,841 units, up 20.8%.

BMW sales rise as GM Ford fall


The automaker said Wednesday that U.S. sales of the X5 soared 32.2 percent in August, even as the German brand's overall sales were off 4.1 percent. With BMW's Mini brand factored in, the company registered a 1 percent increase in domestic sales from August 2008.

    Early 80s cars made 1500HP using a LOT of boost and were even lighter than this and they proved to be very good track cars.

    Good news. More options=better, and the thought of something shaped like a 350z, with instant torque and zero dino consumption (while perhaps unlikely) put a big smile on my face.
