TOP 9 - Man buys back car he sold 50 years ago

LONDON: A Briton has shelled out £6000 for a car he originally bought 50 years ago for £23. David Osten, 69, bought the white 1928 Austin Seven when he was a student in 1958. It was while driving it that he met his future wife, Jill, who, he muses, fell more for the vehicle than for him.

TOP 8 - Kind of a drag at Brickyard

The turmoil over Goodyear tires rapidly deteriorating at NASCAR’s recent Allstate 400 at the Brickyard in Indianapolis provided ample evidence that even small changes in an established technical design can create unexpected and substantial difficulties, much to the dismay of both racing fans and drivers.

TOP 3 - Fiat Grande Punto Abarth

I'm afraid I may be leading you astray in describing this car as a Fiat. It's Fiat-based, of course, and the company at the head of the scheme is Fiat Group Automobiles, but what you see here is the first Abarth-branded car to be introduced to the UK (in the 21st century, at least), and the name of the celebrated Italian tuner is being promoted almost to the complete exclusion of that of the manufacturer. So, no more Fiat references.

TOP 2 - Audi A3 Cabriolet 1.8 TFSI Sport

With the new A3 Cabriolet, Audi's understated and rather covetable hatchback gets a soft top for the first time. More than that, it gets a record-breakingly fast one. Push the button located conveniently to the rear of the handbrake, and merely nine seconds later the canvas cover over your head will have sprinted to the back of the car and folded itself tidily against the boot. Clearly we are talking here about the Linford Christie of opening car tops, except without the somewhat distracting controversy.

remind me what track you'll be able to utilize the upper gears in? frantic variable power delivery isn't my notion of what i'd like my car to do on the track but to each his own.
