Common FAQs

Is this site free?
Of course, we wouldn't dream of charging you to use it.

Do I have to become a member to use the site?
No if you want to just browse the site then you don't have to join but you won't be able to submit anything to the site until you do, you'll be a spectator only. Feel free to browse the site as much as you like and if you want to get involved then sign up when you're ready.

Logging In

I can't log in, it says my username or password are invalid
Make sure you are typing your email address and password correctly; also remember to use your email address to sign in as your username is only for display purposes.

I still can't log in, I think I've forgotten my password
Not a problem, it happens to all of us and considering how many passwords we're supposed to remember these days it's not surprising. We'll send a new temporary password to your email address, just click here to start the process or go to the main page and click the Forgot your password link under the log-in box. Then just type in your email address (the one you used to register) and your username.weˇŻll send you a temporary password as soon as possible.

 

Editing your Profile

How do I change my password, email address or avatar?
From the main page click on the Control Center button beneath your avatar, you'll be taken to the relevant page. Please refer to our Help section for more detailed instructions

How do I change my Username?
Unfortunately whatever username you choose to begin with is permanent, it can't be changed.

Groups

How do I create a new Group?

Can I create a group about anything?
Within reason, most groups are to do with Cars but if you wanted to create a group that focuses on the Cheeses of Europe feel free (just don't expect many members). We only ask that whatever group you create you keep PG-13 friendly, anything rude, offensive of sexually explicit you post will be deleted and will get you banned from the site.

Someone else has already created a group on the topic I wanted to start, can I still create mine anyway?
There's nothing stopping you, if you think you can do a better job than they have feel free to do so. Bare in mind however if their group has existed for a while you might not get many people joining yours. For simplicities sake we'd recommend joining the existing group and adding to it what you think it's missing. You can always ask the group owner to make you an administrator and I'm sure they'd welcome an extra pair of hands to keep the group running.

What is the point of forming an alliance with another group?
You can only submit content to your own group's forum and to any group's forum you are allied with. If your groups have similar interests and you want to contribute to each other then it makes sense to be allies.

 

Forums

Where is the main forum?
At present there isn't a single forum for everyone to use but rather each group has it's own forum, so if you want to post you'll have to join/create a group and use that forum. We did it things this way because you can go into other groups and see what's going on in their forum but if you want to post there you'll have to join that group, simple.

Is there any other way to post on a groups forum?
If one of the groups you belong to is in an alliance with another Group you can post on their forum as well, otherwise the only other way to post on a group's forum is to join the group.

 

Submitting Content

What can I submit to Loqu?
Lots of things: pictures, embedded videos, blogs, links, cars you own and news articles. Pretty much anything you can think of, plus within the groups you set up/join you can submit invitations to events and a whole host of other things.

How do I submit content?
If you are having trouble submitting content or aren't sure how to begin, please consult our Help section.

How do I edit/remove something I've posted on the site?
Please refer to our Help section.

Are there any restrictions to what I can upload?
All videos uploaded must abide by both our Terms of Use and not infringe upon any copyrights.

How do I report abuse?
If someone is being abusive in the comments page or you think they have submitted inappropriate material to the site you can contact us at support@loqu.com, just be sure to provide their user name and the URL. We will then take the appropriate action.

How do I report copyright infringement / inappropriate materials?
There is a "report" button for each story/video/image. You may also send a message to our admin team to notify them of the offending content. Once an infringing video is reported, it is listed in our reported list and will be removed as soon as possible. If the video you have reported is still up after 24 hours your initial report, please message our Admin team directly to make sure that the report was received or to find out why action was not taken.

 

News Submission

I can't submit the story, I'm getting a message saying "Please double check the URL and make sure that the article has not been already published" what's wrong?
Someone has already submitted that news article, to prevent multiple submissions our system automatically stops duplicate submissions. If someone else has submitted it then be sure to vote for their story so other people notice it.

A story I submitted has disappeared, why?
If a story that is submitted is seen to either break the terms of use or is otherwise seen to be not relevant to the site then it will be deleted. If you feel that this has been done unfairly please contact us and explain why and if we agree with you then your story will be resubmitted.

What are the Topics for on the News Submission page?
Topics are the various categories on the site used to split content up to make it easier for users to find things, when submitting news etc. just add it to the channel you think best describes it.

What if there isn't a Topic that describes it?
The site is still in need of tweaking in a few places, if you think that there is a channel that should be added to the list, please let us know.

 

Tags

What are tags?
Tags are used to help you and other users group content together, this helps you search for related content or simply browse what seems to be most popular at the moment. While browsing the site you'll see in the left window a list of the most popular tags which you can click on to see all content that's been tagged with that word.

Why should I include tags?
You don't have to include tags with the content you submit but the more you input the easier it will be for other people to find it and the easier it will be for you to find similar content if you want to look for it. Writing tags is easy, just think of the keywords you'd associate with the content you are adding and type them in separated by a comma. For example a picture of a Koenigsegg CCXR could be tagged; Koenigsegg, CCXR, photo.

 

Friends and Other Users

How do I become friends with other users?

What's the point of having friends?
You must be very lonely. Seriously though, if you like the content someone adds to the site and want to be able to see what they've added quickly then add them as a friend. Adding them as friends makes it easier to contact them too because they'll appear in your contacts list when you are sending messages.

I've added someone as a friend but they aren't showing up on my friends list, why?
Until that person confirms you as a friend they won't, be patient and they'll do it in a day or two.

Someone has requested that we become friends but I have no idea who they are, what should I do?
It's completely up to you, check out their profile page and see who they are, they might be in one of your groups, live in the same area as you or they could be someone who just likes having lots of friends. If you don't know them and don't see the point of adding them as a friend, reject them and don't lose any sleep over it.

I accepted someone as a friend but on closer scrutiny they appear to be a massive idiot, how do I get rid of them?

I keep getting abusive emails from someone, what should I do?
Report them, don't be abusive back, just report them. Email us at support@loqu.com and explain what they've done and we'll contact them for an explanation.
