Santa Clara police on Monday arrested the owner of a car that hit and killed two elderly women over the weekend, one of whom was allegedly shoved off the vehicle's hood and run over a second time.Sgt. Kurt Clarke, a police spokesman, said Cecil Cox was arrested at a city library after a librarian recognized the description of his car. Clarke described Cox, 66, as a homeless transient who lived out of his car.

While it's not getting the same level of attention as the redesigned 2009 A4, a major engine addition and a number of minor tweaks should help the refreshed A6 maintain lead in global sales over the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, which it holds despite selling just 12,000 vehicles in the U.S. in 2007, compared with almost 49,000 for the E-Class and more than 54,000 for the 5 Series.
