For the past few years, Hemmings Sports and Exotic Day took place at Lime Rock Park on Memorial Day weekend, the same weekend as Musclepalooza. Sure, there probably isn’t a lot of crossover between the people who attend each event, but it did force me to pick the latter over the former each year. This year, however, we moved Sports and Exotic Day to the Saratoga Auto Museum and changed the date to this past weekend, thus I had the opportunity to finally take in this event.

this year, Fitzgerald chose to showcase both Triumph motorcycles and Triumph sports cars, resulting in a huge turnout of both.

And a wide variety of both European and Japanese cars showed up for the event, including this 1982 Porsche 911-S, apparently one of eight prototypes for the cabriolet and slantnose versions of the 911.

One of the nicer Japanese cars at the event, this 1983 Mazda RX-7, belonged to Wayne King of Windsor, Connecticut.

As I went through my photos of the event this morning, I discovered that I took relatively few pictures of entire cars and instead focused on assorted details, including this bike’s headlamp and instrument cluster.

If you go back to the lead photo, however, you’ll see that thunderstorms loomed over us partway through the day, forcing the awards ceremony inside. Fortunately, the museum accommodated us and all the day’s participants and let us snoop around the current Cadillac display.

CadZZilla was definitely one of the highlights of the display.

Though I got equally as geeked up over the 1947 Playboy prototype on display upstairs. Unlike the production Playboys, this one features a cloth folding roof and a rear-mounted Continental four-cylinder engine. Quite the co-inky-dink after our recent SIA Flashback on Playboy.
