hybrid battery longevity

Hello
I"m trying to decide whether or not a hybrid is the way to go for me. I'd like to buy a Ford Escape Hybrid but have concerns regarding the battery life especially with my patterns. I understand that the battery charge is controlled to not overcharge or undercharge within a set parameter. I tend to go overseas twice a year for a month at a time. Would the fact that the car is not driven for such a length of time run the battery down below this line and if so how would this affect the longevity of the battery?

The hybrid battery packs are designed to last for the lifetime of the vehicle, somewhere between 150,000 and 200,000 miles, probably a whole lot longer.

Oh yeah, for chrissake, why would you want to take a powerful, light car to a track?
