TOP 6 - In the name of faith: GM Dealers Buy $1M in GM Stock

GM has had what can be conservatively called a difficult week. In a live press conference, CEO Rick Wagoner delivered sobering news about health care cuts, asset sales, retirement and separation packages, and the elimination of GM stock dividend. The doom and gloom hasn't scared off the General's Dealer Council, as 20 retailers purchased a combined $1m in GM stock to show their support. Of course $1m isn't going to help much in the face of $15 billion in cuts, but co-chair Duane Paddock wanted to make the gesture to show GM and its massive dealer body that the council believes in the struggling automaker.

Every year, hot rodders from around the country gather for a huge custom car show, swap meet, and a night of drag racing put on by the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association. For many, it's a weekend of fun, but for others it's the chance to be named the Street Machine of the Year. The winner of the prestigious award this year went to Erv Roller's 1969 Chevy Camaro known as "RAZOR", built by the Ring Bros.

TOP 2 - Production Camaro details coming on July 22nd

We're admittedly tiring of the Camaro hype machine, but we can't fault the fanboys at 5thgen.org for keeping their pot of excitement on boil. The site threw up a countdown to the announcement of the production Camaro on July 22nd, which apparently will be held at all domestic Chevrolet dealers through a two-hour satellite broadcast. Retailers will be given all the details on the Camaro at that time and according to a source, "real orders for real cars" will begin being accepted.

TOP 1 - Fiat and BMW consider small car alliance

Fiat and BMW are considering an alliance to develop a common platform for small cars.

The carmakers have signed a “memorandum of understanding” and confirmed that they were exploring a co-operation between Alfa Romeo and Mini.

The alliance would also help Alfa Romeo enter the US market – Fiat pulled the marque out of America in 1995.
