Rhinebeck antique event part
Posted Wednesday, Aug 13, 2008 by sweet
Today we have a few more unique bikes that were featured at the Father’s Day Rhinebeck show.

A beautiful Henderson inline four cylinder two-seater

Here’s another you don’t see every day. A 1948 Safticycle Mountaineer, great-uncle of most Sixties minibike designs.

single-cylinder Indian from about 1904-07. The 1-3/4 hp Hedstrom engine was manufactured by Aurora Machinery Company in Aurora, Illinois, for Indian but was marketed by Aurora to other manufacturers such as Thor, Pope, Monarch and Orient.

Pretty original 1911 Wagner 4-11 model. One similar to this was recently estimated at auction for $30,000 to $50,000 after a full restoration. This example still had some ridden patina but could easily fetch $15,000 and up as is.

I have very little information on this “The Enterprise” bike, other than it appeared the gas tank was part of the front fender and the engine was a 45-cu.in. Harley. You can see in the photo that the frame was rigid and the rear suspension was one lone coil-over shock attached the the rear inner fender. Lying on the front of the bike was a copy of Cycle magazine from 1952 in a plastic bag. I have since found a full-size copy of the magazine cover. If anyone has a copy of this one and can shed some more light on the Enterprise, we’ll post the additional information.

Sept ‘52 cover story, anybody have a copy of the magazine?
Tomorrow we’ll show you a few of the trucks that were on display and a few more bikes too.
