TOP 10 - Mitsubishi will build Concept-cX SUV

It comes as no surprise that Mitsubishi will be making a production version of the Concept-cX SUV first shown at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show. The design was well received and will slot right beneath the Outlander in size and price. Equipped with a new 1.8-liter, Euro 5-compliant Clean Diesel four-cylinder turbo engine, the cute 'ute will be the new flag-bearer for Mitsu's green efforts. Borrowing the twin-clutch SST transmission and all-wheel-drive platform from the latest Evo aims to put the 'sport' back in the Sport Utility Vehicle.

TOP 9 - 2009 Acura TL shows its face, AWD confirmed

The 2009 Acura TL is coming this fall, and Acura has released the first official image of the car. Acura's love-it-or-hate-it new shield-grille face is affixed to the front end of the new sedan, which also sports thin, slanted headlamps and a pair of angular lower intakes. A pronounced accent line sweeps down from back to front, where it leads directly into a very pronounced wheel arch. Loe oks like we'll have to wait a littllonger to see the car's posterior.

TOP 8 - Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series

After months of spy shots and speculation, the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series is finally out in the open. And with a $320,000 price tag, a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 and only 200 units on their way to the U.S., it's a serious stopgap between the deceased SLR and Mercedes' 2011 SLC gullwing supercar.

TOP 7 - Suzuki Carry drifter: it's O-KEI!

I like to share news and links about the diminutive forbidden-fruit rides whenever something interesting pops on the radar, like yesterday. Today, it's just a photo, courtesy of the gang at Speedhunters. The tiny kei pickup is a Suzuki Carry, which, in the hands of a normal business owner, does precisely that. This one's obviously a wee bit more specialized though, as the rear wing and roll bar suggest. This little work truck's job is drifting. It might look wrong, but there's something so right about it. Who says you need triple-digit horsepower to have fun?

TOP 6 - New VW Beetle could be North America's up! variant?

The VW Beetle is a cult favorite here in the States, but in Germany, it's not so well loved. That could be part of the reason why Volkswagen has been slow to produce a successor to the new Beetle, but word from Motor Trend is that two models could be coming shortly. The first Beetle will be based off the Gen-VI Golf and will hit production in 2010 or 2011.

TOP 5 - Huzzah! TVR lives... again

TVR has proven its place as a member of the automotive nosferatu, rising once again and relaunching a revised Sagaris that's being readied for production. Currently a prototype, the Sagaris has received updates to the exterior in the form of a new hood and splitter, as well as 19 inch wheels bolted to a re-tuned suspension.

TOP 4 - BMW 3-series refresh confirmed for Paris debut

The 2009 BMW 3-series will be revealed in all its facelifted glory at the Paris Motor Show and sales will begin across North America this October. The only discernible differences up front are a new fascia that apes the recently unveiled 7-series, new headlamps with "altered graphics," a contoured hood and modified mirror housings.

TOP 3 - Production Camaro details coming on July 22nd

We're admittedly tiring of the Camaro hype machine, but we can't fault the fanboys at 5thgen.org for keeping their pot of excitement on boil. The site threw up a countdown to the announcement of the production Camaro on July 22nd, which apparently will be held at all domestic Chevrolet dealers through a two-hour satellite broadcast. Retailers will be given all the details on the Camaro at that time and according to a source, "real orders for real cars" will begin being accepted.

TOP 2 - 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8s still available

For those of you desperately waiting for the next batch of Dodge Challenger SRT8s to be built after the announcement that the first 6,400 2008 models were already spoken for, fret not, supply is on your side. The Detroit News is reporting that while the majority of limited edition SRT8s were already sold before they were built, about one-quarter of the Challengers were set aside for dealer orders.

First of all, you guys, "electrification" is a perfectly cromulent word, as in "rural electrification initiative".
Second of all, COOL! I didn't know that there was an auto exec who saw the same light

Is that like Californication?

You might want to try a Renault F1 for a more fair race in a straight line!

remind me what track you'll be able to utilize the upper gears in? frantic variable power delivery isn't my notion of what i'd like my car to do on the track but to each his own.

Oh yeah, for chrissake, why would you want to take a powerful, light car to a track?
