TOP 10  -  Volvo S80 Blends Technology Tradition

Volvo

Volvo’s flagship sedan, the S80, got redone for the 2007 model year, but it took until now to get a date with one — a beautiful 2008 model. It was worth the wait. By now, the Volvo-as-box image has faded from public perception. When the first S80 arrived years ago, it was a revolution, with a return to traditional “shoulders” but otherwise a modern, even daring, approach to sedan design, with a laid-back rear window, tapered rear deck and tucked-in side panels. The blunt, medallion-wearing grille was squeezed down to a slender strip. The same fresh approach was applied to the interior, as well.

TOP 8  -  BMW studio at Delhi setting new trends!

BMW studio at Delhi setting new trends!

Welcomed by a striking BMW 650i parked in the limelight, the BMW Studio, right in downtown New Delhi came across as a rather small dealership. One could have got foxed on this but knowing BMW India, that could not have been the agenda behind this piece of swanky real estate. Making my way through, as I eyed the gorgeous car, it began to dawn on me that this is not some measure of maximizing on expensive commercial property, but an innovative way of bringing across the BMW brand to the consumer, both the aspirational kind and also the fully committed types. The car is just a catch, I was later informed, for what lies at the far end of the room is what really matters!

The issue of alleged favouritism in Formula One is back in the spotlight after Felipe Massa got away with a reprimand and 10,000 Euro fine for narrowly avoiding a crash with Force India's Adrian Sutil in the pit lane following an early release during his second pit stop at the European Grand Prix.

TOP 6  -  Fiat Portofino Concept Adds Nautical Vibe Subtracts Doors Roof Floor

Fiat Portofino Concept Adds Nautical Vibe, Subtracts Doors, Roof, Floor

Fiat is hoping to recapture the spirit of the Fiat 500 Jolly beach cruiser with their Fiat Portofino Concept, set to debut at this year's Dusseldorf Caravan Salon. Based on the Fiorino van platform, the Portofino carries with it a nautical theme like the one found on the VW Caddy Topos Sail. In this case, getting nautical means swapping the floors out for wood and swapping out the seats with a natural fiber that goes through a special waterproofing process. There's not much of a roof and the doors have been replaced by pieces of rope, so we'd recommend the use of seatbelts.

Good news. More options=better, and the thought of something shaped like a 350z, with instant torque and zero dino consumption (while perhaps unlikely) put a big smile on my face.
